Competition Tribunal ruling a victory for Western Cape racing

THE decision by the Competition Tribunal to give the green light to the merger between Kenilworth Racing and The Thoroughbred Horseracing Trust is a major victory for the sport of horseracing in the Western Cape. That’s the view of Vidrik Thurling, chairman of the Western Province Racing Club and a director of Kenilworth Racing. “I’m elated and relieved,” said Thurling. “It’s an absolutely vital outcome for the future and longevity of Western Cape racing, which produces many of the country’s top horses annually.”

	PHUMELELA is set to revolutionise horseracing in the Eastern Cape with the installation of a Polytrack synthetic racetrack on the inside of the existing turf circuit at Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth. Gauteng Tourism Authority to partner Sansui Summer Cup

HORSERACING and tote betting company Phumelela is proud to announce that the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) is to partner the Sansui Summer Cup with the aim of transforming the raceday into a mega event with national and international appeal.

The GTA’s partnership with the race was announced at a media conference at Turffontein yesterday, an apt occasion in light of it being World Tourism Day.
